On Wednesday, one of the most meaningful events in Westmount’s history was held ‐ the Grand Siyum for the various men’s shiurim that the Rabbi has led over the past year. It was fitting that the event, featuring a delicious meal prepared by the Durbachs, was held in the Bais Hemdrash where so many hours of Torah have been learned.
Rabbi Lowy honoured us with his presence and glowing words about Westmount. Shlomo Abba Friedlander did the actual siyum on Maseches Makos and spoke powerfully about the impact of this learning on the shul as a whole and the tremendous gratitude we owe the Rav. Martin Levin provided a brilliant insight delivered with his usual gusto.
Andrea Skosowski, a true aishes chayil, movingly described what it’s meant to her and her family to enable Paul to learn. Finally the Rav, clearly kvelling, thanked everyone for giving him the opportunity to teach Torah. Howard Starr and Ron Beker provided beatiful gifts for the wives. Special thanks to Ron Beker, Eliezer Belne and Dan Wener for organizing a perfect evening.
